Interns help run the Late Nite Cabaret

For the 2008 season, Lost Nation Theater is seeking technical and management interns and apprentices.

Performance internships and apprenticeships for actors may be available on a very limited basis in 2008 – but the company is seeking a directing/education intern to lead our youth theater lab programs and to direct a musical version of The Wind in the Willows – the culminating project of the 2-week youth theater session.

*** Application deadline is April 1, 2008 ***

Management internships

Internships are designed as work-study tutorials or assistantships under the supervision of Lost Nation Staff.

Management opportunities include Stage Management, Audience Services, Marketing, Company Management/Education Program Coordinator, Accessibility, and Development. Internships/Apprenticeships are cross-discipline, designed with hands-on experiences in all areas of theater administration. Interns work both in the office and on specific shows.

Technical internships

Internships are designed as cross-discipline work-study tutorials or assistantships under the supervision of Lost Nation Staff. Typically, technical interns focus in scenic/lighting and sound, or costumes/props, and have the opportunity to serve as Assistant Designers on mainstage shows.

Design opportunities are available for the children’s show performed by the Youth Theater lab in scenic/props, lighting, and costumes. Technical Interns typically work 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at LNT's off-site scene shop. Technical Interns also crew at least one show. Costume/prop interns and apprentices generally work 11am/Noon to 10 or 11pm.

Performance/artistic internships include:

Guaranteed performance opportunities (including supporting roles in mainstage shows and Cabarets); teaching/directing opportunities in LNT’s Youth Theater Labs (ages 8-11 & 12-15); seminars with guest artists.

In 2008, LNT is seeking an advanced intern candidate, who could lead its Youth Theater Labs for ages 8-11 & 12-15 (including designing the curriculum, teaching, and coordinate any other instructors), and who would direct a full-day (9am-3pm), two-week Lab which will produce a fully staged/mounted production of The Wind in the Willows — in an original adaptation featuring music by Kathleen Keenan.

Performance/Artistic Interns typical day:
9am-5pm: combination of rehearsal, work call in tech, office, or marketing; maintenance duty, and special event work. Evenings: 3-4 hour call as a production crew member or performer.

All Interns meet every Friday with the Artistic Directors to discuss special projects and give feedback on their experiences. All Interns receive one day/week off – except on turn-around weeks (when there is no day off.)

all interns receive

Montpelier has ample opportunities for recreation, including a large public park and bike path. Several company picnics and parties are scheduled throughout the summer. Interns receive one day off per week (usually a Monday)—except for turn-arounds—and, unless unavoidable, each intern gets evenings off during the run of one show.

If, after studying this page, you would like to become a part of Lost Nation Theater, please download the appropriate application and submit it to the theater with the appropriate supporting documents.  Once we have received and reviewed your application and deemed your credentials appropriate for our program, you will be contacted by either the Production Stage Manager or one of LNT’s Artistic Directors to schedule an interview. Questions may be directed to internships@lostnationtheater.org.

Apprenticeships

Apprentices follow the intern schedule and program. Apprentices do not receive a stipend, and they provide their own housing.

If you are 17 or older and serious in your desire to pursue theater, you are eligible to become part of the Lost Nation Company. Call for details and an appointment.
